Hello everyone ! Wishing you a very happy weekend. Its time for another food review & this time its our royal feast at Rasoi Ghar, an authentic Vegetarian Restaurant, inspired from Gujarati and Rajasthani cuisine.
As you might know, that we are Vegetarians so we are super excited to talk about the complete vegetarian treat that we had yesterday. yalla…
The moment we went inside the restaurant, we had a warm welcome by Ms. Puja. Though it was on a weekend on a busy evening, she was immediately able to find us a place and make us first get settled.
DINING EXPERIENCE : The place had a traditional set up, where you can remove your slippers and sit with your legs folded, on a relaxed cushion and enjoy your meal. It really made me feel like Ghar ka Kaana , and I totally relished the dining experience.
The ambience of the restaurant was so good, and I loved the Indian set up so much. They had some great Indian art works on their wall.
About The Food : We were first served with a refreshing Nimbu Pudina Sharbat, ( Lemonade with Mint) , as a welcome drink. And we were hosted by Mr. Satish, who took complete care of us till we finished our yummy meal. And What we loved is ” Each time when an item is served, we were told what the item was , and it was highly appreciable.”
It’s a 3 course meal :
- Breads , Dal & Kadhi, Rice
Doesn’t it sound something mouthwatering ?
The total spread is absolutely massive, and each items was served in a good adequate quantity, without thinking of wasting the food.
For the Appetizers :
- Tirangi dhokla
- Barsa Dola
- Kachori chat with accompanying sweet chutney & spicy green chutney.
The Dhokla was cooked very soft and it tasted absolutely delicious. The Barsa Dola had lot of stuffed veggies and it was my personal favorite in appetizers, and kachori chat with dahi was very mild and thank god, it was not too sour nor over sweet.
Moving on to The Main Course :
The Side dishes include : Paneer kofta , Bindi sambariya , Aloo Patal bhaji and Chowli Masala. Out of these 4 , the paneer kofta was incredible , super tasty. I loved the Bindi Sambariya, as it did not contain much of masalas and the taste of bindi was overwhelming. Aloo Patal bhaji had 3-4 chunks of Aloo, cooked on a gravy with variety of spices and trust me the spices was accurate! Neither too spicy nor too normal.
Marwadi Dal , Gujarati Dal , Marwadhi Kadhi– out of these dals, the marwadhi kadhi was my personal favorite. I am a huge fan of kadhi as it has the sweet & spicy flavors. The marwadhi Dal was bit spicy, and I still loved it. The dal was cooked perfectly without being too thick nor too runny. And I can hardly see any oils oozing from inside. I felt it they were a perfect & healthy option.
These were complimenting with the delicious mixed vegetables stuffed paratha , puri and ghee phulka. The tiny puris was my little daughter’s favorite. The phulks was very soft and smeared with desi ghee – it was va va voom !
And no Indian Meal is complete without rice. Veg dum Pulao , Kichadi and white rice. We preferred kichadi and veg dum pulao. The pulao was mild spiced with the basic whole spices and not that heavy vegetables. I am basically a lover of pulao, and I enjoyed it.
Talking about the quantity, it was perfect !!!! They were served in a small round platter that would be perfectly fine for a person. The kichadi was normal and it was my least favorite to be called for.
And every meal has to have a sweet ending, and so it is !
The Sweets :
The sweets were the best. Being hailing from a traditional Indian Brahmin family, where the sweets are the most important part of the dish, these kept up to the mark. They were fresh , mouthwatering and it certainly gives you the craving to have more and more.
They include a Malai Sandwich , Mixed nut halwa and Jalebi. No words to explain as how good they tasted ! They were the best of best ! The total meal ended up with a glass of chilled chaas which completely awesome.
If you’re familiar with Gujarati & Rajasthani , you shouldn’t miss this place. If you aren’t then do give a try as they serve you with an authentic taste and they taste exactly the way it should.
Reiterating , one of the best royal feast we ever had.
Kudos to the chef, and to Mr. Satish for serving us well . Will be back soon with another tasty adventure.
Till then, stay calm and eat !
